Beryl is a Legal Attorney, Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths practicing as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over 25 years’ experience. She practices in the areas of civil and commercial litigation, real estate, corporate law, intellectual property, employment and labour relations, family and estate succession matters, constitutional and judicial review matters, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
She is an accredited Certified Professional Mediator and strongly advocates for ADR as the first point of call for disputants. She is registered as a member of the Mediation Accreditation Committee (MAC), established by the Kenya Judiciary. She is a Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators (IAM), USA, and a member of the International Mediation Institute (IMI), Singapore, where she serves on the Ethics Committee.
Beryl holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Kolhapur in Maharashtra, India as well as a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, India. After graduating with her undergraduate degrees, she joined the Kenya School of Law (KSL) from where she obtained a Diploma of Law and was thereafter admitted to the Roll of Advocates in January 1996.
She is a managing partner at B A Ouma & Associates Advocates. She passionately engages in community service and enjoys serving at the Rotary Club of Nairobi, Langata, where she is one of the founding members. She also voluntarily serves as a Governor on the Board of Kenya Christian Homes (Thomas Barnados Home), a charitable home that takes care of abandoned children.
